changed my sprockets over to 520. after completion stared the bike up in nuetral and the countershaft sprocket was spinning. bike shifted o.k. and went in & out of gear. its an 03 with only 630 miles on it and haven't had the bike long but don't remember it doing this before. trying to figure out why its doing it. any input would be helpfull. thanks.

If the rear tire free spins while in neutral it is a good thing. You now have less drag so the spinning of the tranny, in neutral, is freely spinning the counter shaft.

all the more it should spin, there was no drag on it at all.

Are you positive you had neutral? Don't grab it with your hand and try and stop it, not unless you use your buddies hand to do that... :D
