Is there any good rule of thumb or guidance on rear suspension regarding how these are related: swingarm angle, dogbone length, preload, etc. Can't help but include spring rate and shock length either.

Specifically, I'm swapping to a more adjustable shock (WITHOUT RIDE HEIGHT) that is slightly longer. I was wondering what I should adjust or modify to get proper handling. If my sag is good (proper spring rate and preload) should I then target swingarm angle by adjusting dogbone length?

I have played with swing arm angle with dog bone length. Honestly your better off with shims/washers.

The bike and linkage itself can make it easy or harder to tune. Like Honda/yamaha sports bikes have a more linear linkage where suzuki/kawasaki ramp up the more its compressed.
