this is a generic answer but may be helpful. there are two measurements to consider when determining spring rate...static sag and dynamic sag. static sag is the weight of the bike alone, probably 5-10mm*. dynamic sag is with you, in riding gear, on the bike. maybe 25-30mm*. if your dynamic sag is adjusted to its range and then the bike 's static sag is greater than 10mm, the spring is too stiff...if the static sag is less than 5mm, the spring is too soft. *depending on bike and recommended sag measurements.
