Just rec'd MC Perf in the mail (moved and didn't change addresss, but they found me anyway). In Evelyn's little artical, she mentioned 2 hour Sportsman Endurance racing. Just what I was talking to my buddies about last year, regional endurance racing. I am all for it, as long as the classes are HW, MW, and LW. Please don't leave the LW guys out of this. I would be glad to run these races. Heck, cancel all the Solo's and make them a 2 Hr. endurance's at every weekend. But there would have to be some money paid out.

I agree with Tracee. This sounds like it would be fun. Make it a regional series (points paying). And _please_ include a LW class so that those of us who prefer racing lightweights (fzr's, SV's, Ducs, Hawks, EX's, etc) can join the fun.
I would think it could be a great way of building interest and inducing more participation in the National series.....

  3. I don't read the MC Perf. thing, so this is the first I've heard of it. Sounds like a good idea! Is it all talk, or is this really going to happen?

Hmmm...2 hour solo endurance? Sounds like the good old days to me! Regionals and the GNF? Now we're cookin'!! You'll see a few old farts from north of the border if you bring that one back. Sean?

Would this be open to novices also or just experts? Also, what kind of entry fee?

As a novice, I would definitely be interested. The track time would be great and allow newer riders to get an idea of what endurance racing is like. If time doesn't allow for 2hr solo endurance, change solo 20 to solo 50 or 1hr solo endurance.

I would say to keep it expert & novice combined. Also just keep to three classes, HW, MW, and LW. All machines are eligible,no difference between superstock and superbike. Minimum required riders would be 2-3 with time limits for the number of riders.

Come on HMFIC Wannbe, let us know something. I hate when you just set back and let everybody speculate. [IMG]

Problem is, if I sy things then people won't throw out their opinions, they just take what I write as being the final word. We can't make changes without input so I let people speculate and post their opinions [IMG]

As for the regional endurance thing - we will have them but really haven't sat down and talked about the exact class structure. I do want to have a LW class. The rest of it will probably be set up like the National Endurance Series but then again, if someone has a better idea, maybe not.

I knew that would get you. [IMG] Maybe we could have something like a regional endurance championship just like the regionals. Depending on the weekend a 2-3 hour race would be nice. Just think start racing at 12:30 on Saturday and be done at about 3:30-4:00.

Keep the classes as HW, MW, and LW. No difference between SS & SBK bikes. Also, let the GP bike's in on the action. And place them accordingly.

But this is what I talked to my bud's about last year. All of them thought that it was a good idea. But they all wanted to use my bike. [IMG]

Come on people let them know what you think. The HMFIC Wannabe is ready and waiting for input.

I think a small endurance race would be great like a 1-2hr or solo 50. But I think the race should probably be as long as you can make it and still only have 1 rider. I dont think you will find many people willing to share their toys, know what I mean.

If we have them, I'll be there!

Ijust recruited Brian Stokes to my regional endurance team. And we're gonna use my Fizzer. Just hope he doesn't throw it down the road. [IMG]

  12. Sounds good! Any track time is good timeā€¦ As long as entry fees are to NASTY.

Sign me up for this new endurance thing...sounds like a lot of fun for a single rider since my buddies can't seem to agree on whose bike, gear pattern, tires, etc...I'm up for more track time.

Re: endurance-Same rules as Nationals ie. HW MW LW, ride for a max. of 2 hours solo(although FASTRAXX goes 3hrs in their Iron Butt class-granted, with 2 mandatory 5 min. stops), Pro and amateur together as in Nationals. Best bang for the buck out there. Bring it on, Sean!

I dunno Doc. A single rider 2-hr race in the hot sun at a place like Carolina in late July might be a bit much. I can remember how exhausted I got after just a solo20 (15?) 30 minute stint in that 98+ heat.
Should at least allow 2-3 man teams. And the ones that wanna attempt a 2 hour ride solo - well...... have at it!

Yeah that sounds pretty good about rider lenght of time. And that way you could ride alone if you were stingy with your equipment [IMG]

At least you weren't puking on the front stretch at RA in July after a sprint race [IMG]

Count me in as a LW regional endurance rider! I think it's a great idea and would love it. Hell, I'd even let someone else ride my... backup bike [IMG]

2 hour race or a solo 50 would be awesome. One of the best times I have had and learned the most was an open Ed Bargy practice at Talladega. So few people showed up that we were allowed hour blocks to run. It was great. Learned fuel mileage for my bike...what stamina I had (or lack thereof!!) and was just generally great. I am racing the six hour races this year with two other buddies and can't wait. Not too hip on the MC Performance magazine. But other than that, WERA is a great organization. Puts the COMPETITION to shame.

Skip the Solo's and have an enduro is a sweet idea, but what kind of money are we talking about. Anyone have any ideas on what a decent purse would be for one of these? Or maybe combined with money some extra stuff like sprockets or a set of leathers you know, a little extra incentive to help push up the anty...
