One of my Mom’s very close friend’s husband passed away a few months ago (RIP James). He was a farmer but also had an auction business as well. Over the years he started collecting toy trucks that didn’t sell at the auctions and over time it became his hobby. We went out to visit his wife Pat today as she is having a sale and she wanted to show us the collection before it’s gone with the sale. The pics are only a fraction of the collection. anyway, thought some of you might enjoy:
Damn, those are some fine specimens. That's a gold mine. Even when I was a kid that was rare stuff, and they don't make them like that anymore. For some reason it reminds me of the scene in 40 Y O Virgin..."Do you not know how hard it was for me not to play with this stuff when I was a kid!"
Kinda cool? Bit better than kind of cool, that’s awesome stuff since growing up farming those were always collectible types of things most farmers had that were always kept and passed down generations. Those things hit home with me.
Truth. The Smith Miller trucks are the truly high end high dollar stuff (now). I love the old Mack with the flatbed and the PIE tank outfit the best. the Cat bulldozer is a special edition toy CAT put out in the 1950s (I think that’s what Pat said.)
