I just bought one of these things for the trailer, what says the beeb? Anyone have experience with one of these? Supposed to be able to run the A/C with a 2000w generator with one? https://www.microair.net/collection...rter-for-air-conditioners?variant=30176048267 I'll post up results after this weekend's test. Thanks
I went with this... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DM72CFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That's just a larger start capacitor, completely different theory of operation, does nothing to lower the startup power draw.
I have the MicroAir on the Dometic Penguin AC system on my trailer and had no problem running it using my EU2000i. Just dont expect to be able to run anything else.
They certainly make a difference. I believe they stay in the start circuit longer than a normal capacitor. Mine wouldn’t start with my 3k inverter generator in auto throttle without one.
Run capacitor stays in the start circuit permanently, hence “permanent split”. A hard start is just a start capacitor with a potential relay. Soft start is a ramping control, and IMO is an absolute must for a AC running off a generator. Not sure if your 2k will run it but give it a shot.
I put these on the A/C for our old 24' and our 46' trailers. It for sure helped with start up. They are easy to put in. It takes longer to pull the cover off. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SPP6-SUPCO...e-Relay-And-Hard-Start-Capacitor/381456958316
