I see this as pretty simple. Since Marquez took himself out of contention for the title he would rather see another Spaniard win it rather than an Italian.

 

Marc wasn't trying to race for position but to make sure he was in the way of Rossi, he fell down because he ran into Rossi, there was more room to make the turn, he wasn't run off track. Rossi seemed to have the pace to stay with Lorenzo till Marquez started slowing him down.
