Just got a call saying she has passed. Had a heart attack @ Miller. Her & her husband Andrew were locals here. Used to go out for breakfast when I 1st moved here.
Wow. Sorry to hear that. Condolences to Andrew from me and my family. I have a bunch of Cindy stories but this is my favorite. We were racing at Gingerman and time was tight (as always) so there were two checkered flags for practice. That way it should only take 1/2 lap to get everyone off the track. I see the checkered on the front stretch and again on the back half and then I exit. The race director (some of you know who I am talking about) stops me at pit in and makes me shut the bike off and take off my helmet. He proceeds to rip me a new ass and said I missed 3 checkered flags. I contend it never happened and I must have passed someone before the flag or something. I even offer to get the video off of my bike so we can check. He doesn't care about that and kinda acts like I'm not allowed to race anymore. I go to see Cindy and plead my case. She knows nothing about it and tells me it's no problem. Then she says, "remember, we pay most of the track help in donuts and compliments". I knew what she meant. Don't cause a fuss. Everything is cool. I liked that interaction.
Shit..... It's going be a sad weekend at Tally... She was always so helpful... Prayers to all that knew her...
So sad to hear this news. May she RIP and may the hole she leaves in so many hearts be filled with good memories of her life.
RIP Cindy. Terrible, terrible news. The OMRRA mom Janice Logan then the AHRMA mom Cindy Cowell in the same year, what is a racer to do :-(.
I am so sorry to hear this, she made AHRMA function as family. Andrew, my sincerest sympathy and best wishes to you from Alaska. Jamie
