I currently have a 1986 RG500. It is in near mint condition with 9700 kilometers on it. The upper fairing is cracked by the mirror mounts. I am curious as to what I could get for this bike my Garage is getting full. Please let me know what range I should ask for the bike. Thanks Bubba
Send me a "PM" and we'll continue with 'real world' email...where is the bike located and other details. Thanks, Charles
I'd be interested.. Don't mean to step on anyone's toes. Where is it located ? .. and I'll assume it is registered. Email or IM me if you'd like to discuss a sales price. If the bike is located in Canada and not a US registered bike, I wouldn't have further interest. Thanks.
The bike is in Niagara Falls, Canada...for those who may have forgotten, or for those too young to know, shipping this bike requires it to be shipped as a 'competition' vehicle, not intended to be registered for the street; however, if this seller sends you a valid, completed title and bill of sale, you MAY attempt to register it for the street, but some states' systems will not accept the VIN (Canadian) of the bike. Some states will... Racing it of course is a different story, you need not worry about registration. But the shipping paperwork must be completed by a shipping broker...in this case, the seller is willing to bring the bike over to the U.S. side...if you are looking for an RG500, here it is...a fine bike for Formula 2-stroke and V5, plenty quick and light...these big 2-strokers are becoming hard to find. Back in '85 and '86, I purchased and recv'd from Canada both an RZ500 and an RG500, very sorry I sold them years ago for a song. Good luck, Charles
If you go to Canada to purchase the bike and import it yourself you will not need a broker. I've done this myself several times, with both street bikes and race bikes.
This I didn't know. Still, wouldn't you have to fill out the same paperwork and also, isn't a 'bond' still required, or is that requirement void if you are transporting the bike openly, i.e., not in a crate??? I'm curious... In this case, with this RG500, the owner is willing to bring the bike to the U.S. and you get to see Niagara Falls...
