Asking the beeb and the WERA Family for prayers, thoughts and good juju for my daughter, Melissa (Mood) Hartley. She will have a liver operation to remove what is diagnosed as non-malignant tumors on Thursday. She will have some 50% of her liver removed. She should pull through OK but, hey, a little help from the beeb wouldn't hurt in the "hoping for the best" department. Some of you may remember her when, as a teenager, she was part of the WERA Registration and Scoring crew at Summit Point, Pocono, Rockingham, Nelson Ledges and Cycle Jam at Pocono and IRP as well as the Road Atlanta GNF in the early to mid 1990's. Those times were full of families working for WERA almost everywhere - dads, moms and kids. I know that is true; my entire family was at the track. Melissa is currently living in Japan with her 3 daughters and her husband, who is the CHENG on LCC-19. Her step-son is in Marine boot camp. She is in the States for the procedure, which will be at Portsmouth (VA) Naval Hospital. As an ICU nurse, the doctors knew they could not BS her. She probably cared for over 250 liver operation patients in her 12 year career. She knows what she is in for and is taking it in her best professional nurse stride, but, as her father, I'm going slightly bonkers, praying and hoping for the best. Once she gets through this, she faces some 6 weeks recovery. I'm doing the home care honors as Marge is in Japan caring for the 3 kids. So, take a moment and remember her in your prayers or thoughts for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery. Thanks much George Mood, THE Rain Director.
