so on the chemical reaction side the SSRIs are doing what none of the listed recreational compounds could? I know they’re racing to synthesize psilocybin now so they can sell it for this very issue… do you think you wore out your ability for the other to be effective?

your mind overriding your regulatory vitals is incredible to me. My resting is like yours low and slow but I’ve never had vitals issue from something that wasn’t physically induced.

I used to get overwhelmed and actually felt lightheaded empathetically watching loved ones suffer… then the first time Doc Bryan had two needles deep in the center of my knee at Laguna one year and I felt the same light headedness… he looked at me and said “you know that’s all in your head” and I tuned it out and it never happened again…. That’s the closest I understand to a physical reaction from a mental input.

thanks for the kind words and I have used my past to help inspire underprivileged kids to use trauma for fuel but I’m far from having it figured out… that’s why I’m appreciative of you guys sharing

the therapy part is what I don’t get…. Someone that listens to your issues and tells you what to do? That’s helps you?

I know we’re all different I’m just trying to understand…

They act differently and SSRIs actually inhibit most hallucinogens.
My problem is strictly from the addictive perspective, it would be like eating donuts to stop eating cookies for me. I was actually looking for a release in the hallucinogens when I was young because liquor has lots of obvious drawbacks. It just backfired.
One other issue I have with some of the numnuts pushing some of the hallucinogens is the cultural appropriation and douche aspect. Watched some pasty fat white fuck in full regalia trying to make money with ayahuasca ceremonies. It seemed pretty disrespectful as well as sketch.

Any of you ever microdosed mushrooms continuously?

My dad is an infantry Vietnam vet, pipe hitter, body stacker, has bad PTSD. Honestly surprised he is still alive. Sleeps maybe 4hrs a night and wakes up screaming. I keep telling him he needs to check into a medical rehab and then pursue a good counselor. He screams, leaves, and then I don't see him for a month.

He smokes dope all day from the minute he wakes up, is drinking by end of breakfast, only buys a 12 pack each day cause he knows he will drink more if it's there . The VA has him on a laundry list of pills and he repeats shit all the time....mind is fading quickly. It is sad to watch.

all the elders in my family use them now and there are no negatives. I have vast experience with them and have written on here a bunch about it. But feel free to PM me with Q’s.

they’re legal in Ann Arbor. Take a drive and get started asap, it may not be the solution but even if he can stop drinking it’d be a godsend, and it won’t hurt no matter what.

You go in to their office and it takes a couple sessions just to get a feel for one another and a general gist of whats going on. By about the third session they've got you figured out but they dont just tell you to do ABC and D and you're done. As you're talking about whatever, they'll nudge your thoughts and guide you to insights and revelations you need to make on your own.

Then they'll give you some tools to use from there, or use special techniques, or whatever. But they just cant tell you the sky is blue. They guide you so you can see it for yourself and you convince yourself it is true.

Its like black magic to me.

    Glad it’s working for you.

I’m not wired like that, kind of like being hypnotized, and hallucinating, none of which my mind allows.

pickled egg There is no “try”

The biggest thing with therapy and getting anything out of it is letting go.

Letting go of what you think you know.

Letting go of what you expect.

Letting go of any idea of control.

An alc/addict has to hit “rock bottom” to decide they want to change. That rock bottom is surrendering the illusion of control and letting someone else “take the wheel”.

All the Bill W. shit is cloying as hell when you’re a devout atheist, until you actually remove the theocratic snake oil from it and see what it truly is.

Love me some skydaddy talk. I identify as a Pastafarian as I use The Flying Spaghetti Monster version. He, after all, did boil for our sins.

Two of my therapists were top shelf military flight psychiatrist or psychologists. One was a Gitmo interrogator. Two others dealt specifically with PTSD and juveniles. The objective insight is great and the coping techniques help. The juvie specialists offer brain retraining techniques generally used on problem kids.
Of all the things they taught me, the grounding techniques work the best for OCD noggin.
Count every object in a room that's blue, or starts with A, or by chronological order of the last time you touched it.
Dogs recognize it to, they are super lovey when I'm not cool. Playful when I'm good.

    Well here's an update:

    Pretty much I wasn't loved as a child! :crackup::crackup:

After self reflection I came to the realization my dad was full on Aspergers and not equipped with the SW to be a father. Im guessing my brother got the aspy trait as well. So I grew up with two guys with a combined emotional intelligence of a six yr old! No wonder why they were always at each others throats all the time.

I was doomed before I was born lol.

But at least Im getting the pieces of the puzzle figured out. This was a big one.

I would get the shit beat out of me by either my mother or her Salvadoran husband, if I spoke English at the table. Permanent left ear hearing damage from some big open handed wallops that popped my ear. I’d say I wasn’t loved either…….all I can do now is just keep my guard up, but laugh when I can

Now Im part of the EMDR fan club! Yeah now I get why y'all didnt wanna talk about it much. I responded pretty well I think.

But yeah it's freaking voodoo magic. In my case I had some negative core beliefs tied to some early childhood memories. EMDR seemed to have let me re-process those memories for the better.

But yeah I understand what y'all were saying. Its not going to work on everyone, and its a pretty specific tool for specific types of issues. And digging into your unpleasant memories is difficult.

Wife is very happy with EMDR.
Still working through insurance BS to try a few sessions.
A lot of good work being done on the gut-brain connection. Apparently, gut biome has a big impact on body chemistry overall.
