Hey does anyone out there own OZ Forged Aluminum Wheels?

I'm thinking about buying a set. I understand they are as light or lighter than Marchesini Cast Magnesimum Wheels.

I just wanted to know how the fit and finish is and if they are truly that light.....

I don't have the #'s handy, but I remember them being heavier than the cast mag. wheels. Probably a lot sturdier though.

Cycle 1 in Oklahoma City put a set on an employee's GSX-R600. Very nice wheels, lighter than stock, just a bit heavier than mags. If you need a source for them call 405-677-3600.

They are no where near as light as the Marchesini mag wheels.

Hey Dan, what's the weight difference between the March's and the OZ's?

I was looking at both, and it looks like the March's are about a grand more.

    MARCHESINI 3 OR 5 SPOKE
    FRONT AND REAR WHEELS (PAIR)
    $1800 - $1900
    (Depending on application)

    O.Z Forged Aluminum Wheels
    $1598

I beleive the Marchesinis are only about 200 to 300 dollars more.
if your talking about Forged Aluminum verses Cast Magnesium wheels.

Marchesini Magnesium wheels weigh 17 pounds.*
Marchesini Aluminum wheels weigh 24 pounds.*
The typical stock wheel weighs 34 pounds.*

*These weights include both wheels, bearings, cush drive, sprocket carrier and sprocket

OZ wheels appear to be 20 to 21 pounds in Forged Aluminum.

Of course if you start talking about Forged Magnesium, yeah those wheels cost a lot more.

These are some wheel weights for an RC51, the weights will give you an idea what the differences are.

The most important weight is around the outer rim, this outer weight determines the gyroscopic effect (turning) and affects the brakes the most. So even though the overall weight may not appear to be a significant savings the performance aspect is still there due to less rotating mass on the outer most part of the rim.

    FRONT WHEELS NO DISCS
    Blackstone carbon fiber 4.85 lbs
    Dymag carbon fiber 5.6 lbs
Dymag mag center carbon rim 7.8lbs
Hi Point forged aluminum 8.2lbs (unofficial weight)
    Marchesini cast mag 7.7 lbs
    Marchesini forged aluminum 8 lbs
    Marchesini forged mag 7 lbs
    Marvic Penta II 7.5 lbs
    PVM cast mag 9 lbs
    PVM forged aluminum 10 lbs
    PVM forged mag 7 lbs
PVM Colorline 5 spoke two piece 14 lbs
    OZ forged aluminum 7.75 lbs
    Stock RC51 10.5 lbs

REAR WHEEL WITH DISC AND CUSH DRIVE
    Blackstone 13 lbs
    Dymag carbon fiber 13 lbs
Dymag mag center carbon rim 12.8 lbs
Hi Point forged aluminum 16.3 lbs (unofficial weight)
    Marchesini cast mag 12.7 lbs
    Marchesini forged aluminum 16 lbs
    Marchesini forged mag 13 lbs
    Marvic Penta II 13.6 lbs
    PVM cast mag 14.25 lbs
    PVM forged aluminum 17.75 lbs
    PVM forged mag 12 lbs
PVM Colorline 5 spoke two piece 6.25" 25.5 lbs
    OZ forged aluminum 16.5 lbs
    Stock RC51 19 lbs

    Thanks Dan!

Looks like there's 3.85 lbs difference between the OZ and the Marchesini Cast Mag.

It looks like CF rims see the biggest weight savings for the front rims...but aren't any lighter for the rear.

    Hey Dan,

Why doesn't Ohlins offer radial brakes for their R&T Forks? It doesn't seem like it would add too much to the cost.

PVM wants like $1000 for their radial kit...definitely not a deal IMO.

    COOLLLLL! Thanks Dan!

OHHH thats why the car guys are always singing the praises for the two Piece rims..... In addition to lightness errr rightnesss you can replace the outer rim when honk it on a pot hole because its so fricken thin......

They will be later this year, there will be a new style R and T fork that allows radial mount brakes, The R1 forks will be first.

    Dan Kyle,

    Heyyy wait a minute....

    You sell OZ wheels!

And you don't sell cast Magnesium wheels....

You only appear to sell forged wheels....

So do you recomend the OZ forged Wheels?

How come you don't sell Cast Mag Wheels.....

Thats great you are supporting your sponser, and paying full retail.

Wow - your sponsor is asking you to pay full retail?

Anyone that pays $1800-1900 for 5 spoke march mages is, regrettably, way overpaying. The price on those has come down a fair bit since the twn-spoke forged wheels came out, although those are a lot more expensive.

You should be looking to pay $1500 or less for the pair.

Dan - what do you ask for a front 10 spoke (black) forged March for a 929/954?

    svdale That's my Baby

May be off the subject a little bit, but my buddy has a 01 hayabusa that he is turning into a drag bike, right now he mostly rides on the drag strip but everyonce in a while he rides on the street. He wants to save weight and i told him about the wheels, should he go with carbon fiber, mag, or the forged alum.? Most drag racers i see have the forged alum, why is that? thanks for any info, see ya Dale:beer:
