Since Dorna is running both series, I doubt they are going to ever completely skip Laguna again. a lot of impressive racing has happened there. Might be part of a grand plan...
Not really defending anyone, but it isn't like MotoGP or WSBK have their schedules posted either. It says WSBK because that is the main event of the weekend. AMA or not.
1. The MotoGP and WSBK seasons are still going. 2. 99% schedules are already being circulated to teams and participants. 3. Number of events and their expected media coverage has been known for a while. NOBODY has a clue what an AMA schedule is going to look like and nobody will for months...well past a reasonable time period to pitch a sponsor.
Within a week after OMRRA finished this season this year, next year's schedule was posted. That's a club...a small one at that.
Announcements are often made for next years event in the pressers following the event. I'd bet the deals for renewals are often struck during the current event. If they did it right they'd be selling tix at the event for next years event.
Laguna was pretty empty last weekend... MotoGP packs then in... BUT they and the Salinas Rodeo keep clashing on the same weekend.. not good.. not good at all... Sad if no Laguna next year for MotoGP... Ron 48 weeks until the Manx Grand Prix..!
A few notes from the WSBK week end 1. Saturday, it looked like there were maybe 500 spectators - about 50 in the main straight grandstands, 100 or so in the corkscrew, some walking around 2. Pre race Sunday, Gil Campbell interview - she says she apologized to the riders, says she will never do a two day event again 3. Sunday, almost zero shots of the grandstands - okay, the fat guy got some air time, but nothing to show how many people were there
Sure, scheduling for OMRRA is simple (they might add another round at another track...) but, the schedule for 2014 is DONE...and we can plan 6 months ahead of time.
Not harshing on them, in fact they seem like a well run org. But comparing them to motogp or even dmg and the complex nature of setting their schedule is like comparing a toaster strudel to a whale's dick.
