I understand relatively few people are interested in motorbikes but they're racing right now. https://ctaslive.nz/CtasLiveVideoSVP.aspx
Best line from tonight so far: "Back in the day... when 'PC' meant 'pulling crumpet' " Over the PA. Dude's my hero LOL
Don´t know where the 45 seconds thing came from, but I was at the track today and the fast guys were doing around 1:35 It´s a modern track with a good layout and some interesting elevation changes. Plus lots of interesting old bikes and interesting old people ... Three Brittens and lots of old 1970´s 2 strokes and stuff... With legends like Graeme Crosby, Randy Mamola Steve Parrish, Aaron Slight and Andrew Stroud out doing a few laps on them... Its not often you get to see and hear that stuff...
Its at Taupo this weekend - center of the North Island, higher up where it is cooler. I raced there a few times when the track was first opened thirty something years ago. Used to be a simple layout but with a nice flow to it. Seems they have added some tight sections since then - can only guess what it is like now. Unfortunately I am now back at my work in Mexico - watching it via the link like you... New Zealand has some other interesting races too. There is a Street Race in Paeroa on the third Sunday every February. Not a great surface for racing and zero run off but lots of character and fun. Its the only place I know of where you can lean on a hay bale sipping a beer with racing motorcycles going past 10 feet in front of you...
