I wear dogtags much like I did in the military. One tag has emergency contact number, blood type, and that I have no allergies. On the other tags are things that I have been told in my life, mostly not-good things. Each day I put that necklace on, and I have to decide if I'm going to prove those people who said those things right or wrong. It helps me get through the day.
So inspirational. Figured it may have helped others' (or me maybe) along down the lines but, there i go trying to be nice again.
No medical professional is going to give you a transfusion based on the information on your necklace.
You bring up a good point. What are the official notifications? I know people do tattoos, bracelets, necklaces, helmet cards, etc, but if the medic won’t follow it, what’s the point?
It's easy to type blood these days, no need to have the blood type on you. Emergency contact info would be cool, I've thought about that.
I wear a Road ID bracelet when I race, ride (bicycles) and travel. Has all of my emergency contact info as well as a motivational line... https://www.roadid.com/
To share an idea. As I said, the tags are good and bad things that I have been told about me throughout my life. Reminders of what some may think. I use it as motivation to prove the ones who said bad things wrong and the ones who said good things right each day.
Mongo's correct. Typing blood is so fast that even if they started with the one listed on your helmet or necklace or sharpie markered on your forehead it would only save a few seconds. The real reason for the blood ID tags, stickers, patch fad is simple, it makes people feel like badasses. And people like to feel like they're badasses. Much like Chaotic feels when he's sportin' his pearl necklace.
