I thought it was actually a piece of Stoner's rear wheel.

 

I recall that they have HUGE blowers there that are used to dry off the track, and I think they were used extensively in 2008 during the hurricane.

Time wise it would not be a problem to blow off the infield.

 

It looks like there's about 100 people on the front straight grandstands.

 

The stands that are traditionally pretty full, i.e. front straight, were pretty empty as well.

 

You might be right. I was at opposite end of the track when the announcer said red flag was due to a piece of fairing...

Then again, announcer also just announced the Red Bull parachute would be arriving soon - 5 minutes after they landed.

 

It's quite possibly the worst place to view after the start of the race.

 

It's my fault. I wasn't able to make it there this year.

I had to stay home to work at my new shop.
