Let's go Rossi!!!!! Awesome race, came around em from third and held on to that lead. Atta boy Rossi, the midget and the adolescent battling it out for second and third was a damn good show too!!
Love Rossi's new helmet, the man has definitely got his mojo back. Hated to see Lorenzo crash again, was amazed he was able to stand up afterwards. In the post race interview Stoner talked like he was planning on reeling Rossi back in and would have done it if it hadn't been for that one mistake in turn one. I call bullshit. He had no more chance to catch Rossi than I would have. (Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration ). Rossi walked away from them and then sensibly maintained his 3 second lead. He was in total control from the moment he took the lead until the end of the race.
love Rossi's helmet! guess that's what his face looks like while going 220 MPH down the Mugello straight. Stoner or no one for that matter had a chance yesterday - Rossi gets so fired up for/by those Italian fan. Also, no one knows Mugello like Val...he was using up every inch of the track and rumble strips
I kept cringing cause it looked like he went across six or seven inches of grass on one of the turns every time going from the rumble strip back into the track setting up for the turn.
Let's talk post-race: Mugello is infamous for post-race track invasions, but that one looked to have set a new record for awfulness. If I were Rossi, I would have wanted an armed escort waiting for me at the finish line.
I wouldn't be surprised if the organizers get a heavy fine. I bet Rossi had a celebration planned that had to be scrapped.
What happened? Just about every fan was invading the track space WHILE RIDERS were still racing! The infiltrated everywhere forcing many teams to shut their garages as soon as their riders returned. Some of the riders had to go dirt-tracking just to get back to their garages. Even Rossi had to dodge people by doing some landscaping. But Rossi is the GOAT. Only 4 more wins to tie the GP win record. Agostini has 68? But yeah, no one was catching Rossi. I would say it one better: He was control the moment the race started. He knew where he wanted to be and picked off those he needed to in order to get there and then stayed there with no palpable competition. In other news, any ideas on what happened to Hayden? Some initial reports say it was tires, but I call bs on that. Since when do tires start going off after lap 2?!? And normally, if his tires go off, he knows it and mentions it in a post-race interview. This time, nothing, just utterly perplexed.
That's really shitty that the fans invaded the track like that... As for Hayden they mentioned something about his ankles IIRC, I was at a bar watching and people kept walking in front of me so I missed some of the commentary. At the same time the looks on people's faces when I launched pieces of chicken fingers or french fries at them for blocking my view was pretty amusing...
