Has anyone seen something like this before? Bought a bike from Cali and he said it had a clean title. There were also other users who said he was a great seller and a known community member to I trusted him. Anyway when I got the bike the frame didn't match the title (frame looks restamped that doesn't match a VIN format). After I asked him why it didn't match, he was like "oh yeah the frame was replaced." Well great. Learned my lesson. He said it was replaced with a blank frame. Anyway he said it was raced in MotoAmerica and there is this plate on the frame with a frame number. Can anyone explain what exactly this is?

The number where the VIN should be is a 9 digit number

That is just a sticker that MotoAmerica used to identify the frame so they know if you have changed motorcycles. It is to keep you from using a backup bike.

emry Can you count? 50 Fucking what?

Replacement frames are sold blank. The dealer normally will stamp the VIN during replacement. Race teams never bother. Ultimately it is the piece of paper that matters, not the actual frame. Until you get pulled over by a dick that has no understanding of motorcycles. Then your are in for a shit storm of fuck. :/

my old zx6r track bike was a blank frame. no big deal until i went to sell it and everyone acts like its absolutely stolen and they've never seen a frame without a stamp before..

Check with your local DMV to find out what needs to be done to get the proper paperwork. As mentioned it will save you some big headaches when you sell it and I've heard of local law enforcement checking local tracks on very rare occasions for stolen bikes which could end up costing you time and $$$ to clear it up.

my only concern would be where the "damaged" frame is?? Cause chop shoppers love clean titled vins so they can cut it off an existing and put on a new.
Yeah having a clean title to a blank frame could be a headache if you ride on the street. Otherwise you can buy a punch set for $30 and get to stamping your frame to match the title. The MotoA sticker is to make sure youre using the same bike for competition...has no bearing on ownership or title status.

Depends on local laws. Many places the numbers absolutely must be stamped on the new frame. So it's not just the piece of paper. The dick pulling you over doesn't need to understand motorcycles, you need to understand your local laws....

I only track this bike, but having a clean title for a track bike is better than not having a clean title. I think it helps resale a little bit.
