So I've been doing some searching and most of the info is 5 years old. Are there any organizations still racing minis in the north Florida area? My son is 5 now but would like to know some details on if/when this is possible. And what bike to build?
    Thanks

305 motard is around orlando, but the best thing would be racing At Josh herrins up at Middle Georgia kart track. Or the Herrin compound what ever the name is now lol
They both have facebook groups, Herrins is called Cammra.

we are headed up to Joshs on Sunday if you wanted to come along.
I have a xr80 your son is welcomed to ride.
Unfortunately Starke wont allow bikes on the kart track anymore so there isnt anything else close by. THere is a kart track on 103rd street but they are bitches even though its a city owned park.

Wish I could but looks like I'll be working, maybe next time. Is there an age limit to ride at herrin's? Or bike requirements? Thanks

I dont think there is an age limit more of the ability to ride. They will do sessions so younger riders can have an open track. There are xr50s in the kids class, but mostly everyone runs xr/crf 100s, TTR125s, or 150Rs. A couple of 250s &450s on occassion.
Open practice pretty much any weekend unless there is a Sunday race. They will open the track up during the week if you give them a couple days notice.
Basic catch can & oil/coolant drains safety wired.

I am told this place is basically more fun than Disney World.

I know a group of Ohio Mini Road-racing League riders (ages 11-40ish) went down in March for the "dash for cash." My teammate and I are planning a 5-day weekend some time this winter to do the same.

The report I got from a couple of Georgia guys who rode with OMRL last round is that the track itself has great facilities. You can camp, shower, etc. just like any other track. The nearest neighbors are a church, and the drive is gated, so your stuff is a bit more secure in your absence.

I'm really looking forward to it. Gotta finish up our season up North first though. Round 7 is tomorrow!

Supposed to be a couple Groms coming out to play on Sunday. Will charge up the gopros and make sure I have a suitable sized memory card.

There is a pretty active flattrack scene in your general area, with classes and a clear cut advancement path for kids of all ages.

That sounds like a good idea. Tyler didn't get to try that out, and I'm sure it would help him.

vid from Sunday riding at THC. Couple guys from FL had some GrOmS. Both were stock geared & piped. Looks like they are pretty peppy. One had slicks & the other had stock tires. Neither had suspension. Another local fella rode his grom an hour to MGKT with an Ohlins rear shock and did a few "intro laps". MGKT hooked another...lol
