Thought some of you might appreciate this....

He's been controversial well before he was elected as mayor, his current campaign is the "People Mayor". I ran into him at a local gun shop where he was buying an AR and a pistol after his pistol had been "stolen" from his safe. Told me he hadn't reported it stolen as he was worried about bad publicity, which is funny as I had worked for the local paper for 25 years. I'd been laid off a few months before but it gives you an idea about how bright he is sometimes. I told him I'd report it, think how bad it would be if it was used in a crime and hadn't been reported. Well it was recovered and then matched to two previous shootings, one fatal for a 13 year old. Full story comes out tomorrow.

Okay and him reported it stolen would have prevented those shootings.....how? They'd have remotely deactivated the gun?

No, but if it isn't reported as stolen then he becomes suspect number 1, even if it only takes a week to get cleared up.

I just thought it was ironic based on the conversation with him and his previous history. The gun was supposedly stolen from a safe at a rental property. How many of you keep your guns in a safe at a property you have rented to someone else?
Here's a few other stories about him.

Urban blight has given rise to some pretty interesting big city politics in the last 50 years or so. With the majority of your educated, wealthy types moving out into the county/suburbs, you wind up with winners like this guy getting elected, who make the city even worse.

Maybe if the cops knew the gun had been stolen they would have investigated it and been able to figure out who had stoken it before they killed someone. Of course they didnt have that opportunity because some piece of shit politician was worried about bad publicity.

Or maybe it wasn't really stolen. Maybe he sold it illegally or gave it away to somebody he was "associated with" and it eventually made it into the murderers hands.

Maybe, he seems like a scumbag so looks like a possibility. He'd have to be pretty stupid to knowingly let a gun registered to him make it into the hands of someone shady.

Apparently the FBI recovered video of strip poker and underage drinking from a kids camp last summer.

You'd be wrong about that, midsize city that was pissed at the previous mayors. One built projects that didn't all pan out, the other didn't do a bad job but followed the one that spent all the money and she came in as the economy crashed and the city went into bankruptcy. He didn't win by much but he won in a protest vote. Sound familiar? :)
