I need to remove a panel from the side of my trailer and can't seem to find the bit to remove the screws. The fastener looks about the size of a T22 Torx bit - but these screws all appear to be an 8 point. Is there such a thing as an 8pt Torx? Where can I find one? Is it Torx or are they called something else? Thanks in advance for your help.
I used a square bit for a trailer screw (the one that holds the thingie that hooks the door open). Probably a similar, if not the same, as the panel screws. I have a good selection of torx bits, none fit. The square worked well.
What you need is a torch or a sledgehammer. I hate those bullshitass Torx bolts/bits. I dont know how many times i have twisted the head off of one of those bits.
Red robertson screwdriver. Problem solved. That is of course .if, like most merican's, you do not know what a Robertson screwdriver is?
I'm a naturalized American does that count? Robertson's.... these are the square ones right? I'll give a go tonight. Thanks guys.
Its actually a #2 square bit drive: http://hickorytrailerparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=86
harbor freight. perfect for those "use it one time" tools. somewhere I bought a set of all sort of weird screws/security bits. surprising how often I reach for this on odd ball projects.. about $10 http://www.harborfreight.com/100-piece-security-bit-set-68457.html
This. My friend tried to tell me once that wee needed a torx. I took one look and said no, use a square bit.
