    Looking for some advice....

Well the season is winding down and heading into Nurburgring with the points lead but we are wanting to test a few engine combinations before the final event. We really want to maximize the engine but staying within the rules. Yes before anyone suggest suspension mods., the Ohlins repair center here is our main sponsor so we have all the trick suspension goods. Ceramic bearings throughout, and weight has been cut to the minimum.

The rules here are a little crazy here in Germany. You have to use stock calipers/mastercylinder but can run magnesium wheels. Pending on year of bike determines the extent of the exhaust system you can use. All bikes must have a db killer installed. ECU must remain stock but piggyback systems are allowed. You can degree the stock cams but they allow full porting.

We choose an 07 GSXR750 for this year and it has worked well. The class consist of 848's, 999's, but mostly GSXR 750's. Currently on the organizations dyno we pull 139HP at the rear. Basically we have a stock 07 GSXR750 motor with Akro full exhaust, PC (set to 0). We decided to leave the motor stock and concentrated on set up. With 2 wins and 2 secons and 1 third we just need a little more grunt.
We are trying to manage our own expectations with engine mods but we are limited to 2 weeks. One plan is to tighten the squish, fresh valve job, port job and degree the cams.

    Question:

Is it possible to take a 146hp engine and degree the cams to keep the max to 141 hp and the bike still be rideable? Is it better to do it electronically?

Not knowing what your torque curve looks like now, this is just a guess: You don't need more peak HP; the engine only is there for mere seconds per lap, you spend most of the time below that peak. Work on boosting the torque near its peak RPM, not the HP peak. The bike will be faster if you have the knowledge to do it.

5hp is a lot to lose with just cam timing - I would say a bit of both.
