And people give me shit when they learn that I live in Guadalajara Mexico. People are shocked when I show them the data that GDL is on par with cities like SFO and less dangerous than cities like Houston, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit.... I would bet dollars to donuts that if the State Department had to issue travel warnings for US cities like they do in Mexico and other countries, the local government would freak out as it would severely impact their tourism revenue

Most of the time there is no option for Ingles...Don't speak Spanish...tough shit...figure it out. It can be frustrating at times but there is something to be said for their unwillingness to accommodate foreigners...

All the times I was in Mexico, they seemed to accommodate my US currency pretty well. Seemed that broke any language barrier rather quickly

if you're in the more touristy parts, then there is no issue at all. It is more to do with the day to day living aspects (dealing with the government, immigration, grocery store, etc...)
