As some of you know Jon had a serious accident Sunday at the end of race 11. Please consider helping him and his family if you are able. Below is a link to the campaign. Gofundme
Jon is a good guy. Long time racer, fast expert. Gave back to the sport in plenty of ways. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Update for those not friends with Mark Merical on FB: A couple of updates: We stepped out for a little bit because they were going to take out the intubation. Extubate. I walked back to the room to see if they had finished and when I came in it was out . I said hey John and gave him a thumbs up when he opened his eyes and then he smiled. Progress. So he is talking! But he is finally feeling the pain. He says this is all "silly". He was complaining a lot of the pain. He recognized everyone in the room. They gave him some medicine for pain and he is back to sleep.
Money sent. Hope he can get out of the hospital soon and back home, but UAB is a great facility and I’m sure they are taking good care of him.
I stopped in to see Jon today on my way home through B'ham. He is doing well all things considering. Well enough that they did his shoulder surgery this afternoon. Good spirits as well...wanting some pizza!!! lol We got two thumbs up!! He was a bit dopey still, this was about an hour or so afterwards...
Crawdaddy made it home last night after a painful 2-day trek back to the 419. He's in a ton of pain (surgically repaired collar bone, broken scapula, many broken ribs), but he'll be grouchy as ever in no time.
