I have family in the path. Of course only a couple were smart enough to leave and get out of the way.

I hope they make it out unscathed.

Nothing they haven't seen before. They'll deal with it.

From the news, this one is different and much worse then what they've seen.

For the love of Gawd, I hope they are just "CNNing" this one.

Some of them are old enough to have seen Camille and Katrina. Others were in Florida for Andrew. They could have all been in a car and here in Georgia. I can't force people to leave.

Well, I spent weeks down around LC after Rita hit in 2005. That flattened everything in the area, not that there's much south of LC that isn't swamp and lakes.

Somewhere I have a photo of the old brick firehouse in Cameron. Everything up to about 15' is gone, except the steel columns. I met a guy in Oak Grove who was looking for his fishing boat, it had been moored in a marina there before the 24' wall of water rolled in

Probably a bit of both. A CAT5 is a monster and ignoring it makes you a fool. However the media will declare it historic and Trump's fault and global warming and whatever else scare mongering they can drum up.

Hope everyone in the area took it serious and cleared out.

I hope this one is CNN-d, too. But I remember hurricane Andrew and that storm nearly blew Florida off of the face of the Earth.

Still 100MPH winds and it is all the way to Pirate Kansas. I have not read anything but I suspect there is a lot of suffering folks in French LA.
