How to fix this?

Was grabbing something from the backseat and noticed this stitching coming loose. 2020 Jeep with three kids (although 95% of the time I'm the only one in the truck), so not surprising this is happening (you can see the mud from my daughter's soccer cleats directly in front).

Long story short, I'd love to:

    1. Fix back to OEM if possible.
    2. If not, is there a non-OEM looking fix that's good enough?
    3. If no to 1&2 (or if they're prohibitively expensive for the benefit), how do I stop this from getting worse?

    Thanks.

Go talk to an upholstery shop. They may be able to restitch it in the car.

Or you can do it yourself with a curved upholstery needle and thread.

I would say to stop it from getting worse, dab of superglue on the end of the threads and trim off the loose ones. Then put a seat cover over the seat until you find someplace that can fix it. Thats just decorative trim stitching, the seat cover wont split open.

Definitely an automotive upholstery shop. They’ll whip that cover off, restitch it, and have it back on while you wait. Generally, those guys are really good at what they do.

What's a reasonable amount to expect to pay? Just trying to get a ballpark number - thanks.

Hard to say. If they can quickly stitch it with a hook needle, it won’t be much.

I get forklift seats reupholstered for $90-125. That is top and bottom cushion, with them supplying new material and foam as well, when needed.

Probably $50 to have an auto upholstery shop do it. Maybe less, if as others have mentioned, it can be done without removing the leather cover from the seat and can be stiched in place.

pickled egg There is no “try”

It only seems that way because the car spends more time waiting for repairs than even a Fiat can muster.
