What’s the saying? “Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?” A big chunk of weight can be dropped by going to a full race pipe, and an AL subframe. Have you removed the ignition key assembly? It’s easy, you just have to put cheap resistor in the wiring. Mine weighs 357 with half a tank and Dymag wheels. Still has the wiring harness, charging system and starter. And side stand. Hey, it’s just a track day bike. ------------------ SV Nesba #57 Red, yellow & naked HSTA, Desmo of Indiana
I would like to keep the starter but would like to get rid of every thing that I could. Can I get the bike somewhere in the 320 range?

Yea, and only fill 1 fork tube w/oil, and run the motor 2 quarts low. Don't forget to drain the windshield washer fluid too.
Unless you're running at the front of the pack I'd put the money into a good riding school and top of the line riding gear. If you have any left over dump it into the suspension of the bike and leave the motor stock.
Don't pay any attention to 'holio. Build the sucker. I can't wait to see it. We'll all want one and the rest of us will be doing the same thing whether we can ride or not.
The 320 mark was just a starting point if I wouldn't be able to get this bike down to that I would like to know but if I can I would like to know that also.
The target of 320 pounds sure is a lofty one. The Suzuki Cup allows a bike to be down to 360, and you can probably get to 350 without too much expense. After that, you're getting into pretty expensive and time-consuming territory. If its a project bike, go for it, and tell us how you did it! Otherwise, replace the pipe and sub-frame and you'll be around 360 already, then spend the money on good suspension parts. Also, go the the SV650 mailing list -- this topic came up a month or two ago with some pretty extensive analysis.
