Doing some research and I wanted to know what factors come into play when you guys decide on buying a new exhaust for your bike?

Does your decision factor in performance, styling, pricing or just making noise (there's obviously more options)?

As with most purchases these factors are often a take 2 and leave one behind kind of a deal for example if you want performance and styling it could cost a lot or if you wanted styling and pricing it could sacrifice in performance. Of course this is ALWAYS true but its a driving factor hence the research poll questions above.

    BigBird blah

If it's a Ducati...all that's needed is a BIG price tag and that it makes a lot of noise, and others can see it :D

Thanks for the input guys and the votes. This is solely for research so it would go good for either street or race guys, definitely want to know what factors into your decision when buying pipes.

I tend to think that there isn't a HUGE amount of variation in the performance you can eek out of any of the major brands out there (Arka, Yosh, M4, Arrow, Leo Vince, etc). If you take an R6 as an example and go walk through the paddock at any race you'll find all manner of exhausts attached to them. So what's the real difference. I think the secret sauce is in how skilled your tuner is at building a good map for the bike. As long as you're not running a Shervin limited edition sheet metal riveted fart can.......

Probably true for the most part.

As a side note, my '08 ZX-6R was dyno tuned on 2 different types of dynos 2 years apart at 116+ HP. People laughed at my first dyno result, saying impossible. Then I had it rerun and close to the same number, even the tuner was surprised. The major difference between my bike and others was the exhaust...I had a KR Tuned exhaust...not sure if that was the difference maker or I just got an anomaly.

To the OP, throlling or just a slow day at work?

I have two gsxr 750s, one has a full ti Leo Vince, the other a full stainles m4 with carbon wrapped muffler.
I also have a cbr1000rr with a full ti Akrapovic and a gen 4 zx10 with a Graves slip on and stock ti headers.

    Hope this helps :D
