HELP!!!! Many 09 zx6r KIT ECU questions

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this but I have a 09 zx6r and recently picked up a Attack Kawasaki Kit ECU my other mods are a BMC filter, PCV and Autotune and stock exhaust with the cat removed ( MJS headers). The more I read up the more questions I have. So here they are:

    Kit ECU questions

    1) If I have a used Kit ECU and it comes with other maps how do I switch to the default map and how do I switch to the other maps on the unit? Can this only be done with the PC cord

    2) If i am using a PCV and Autotune how do I use this to change my a/f ratio without using the PC cord

    3) Can I tune the same with PCV and Autotune or do I need the PC cord to adjust ignition timing, idle speed, engine braking and the other things not controlled by PCV or does it allow you to adjust
everything? I doubt it but I wanted to ask .

    4) Is there a benefit to tune with the cord over the PCV, I hear of many people tuning their Kit ECU with a piggyback unit?

    5) Do you need a pc for all of this or can I use a mac? I have a mac and can't even download the PCV info?

    6) I have a friend with an 05-06 Kit ECU pc cord will it work with the 09 Kit ECU?

    7) Is there a difference between a Kawasaki Kit ECU and an Attack Kawasaki Kit ECU? I only ask because I was told I don't need the OEM harness adapter for the Attack Kawasaki Unit

    8) I'm running modified stock headers (MJS Performance-gutted cat etc) , Are there any drawbacks to this setup? I know it is not optimal like a full system but are there any precautions, tips or
otherwise I should take into account?

Any help in finding these answers would be greatly appreciated, I'm not a electronics specialist of any sort so please excuse any stupid questions.

    Thanks!

Hey I know you from kawiforums.com. I don't know all the answers to your questions, only a few:

1.) You need the cord and software for the ECU (for PC only), you can purchase this from Kawasaki for about $500-$600

2.) You don't need a PCV when running this ECU, because the ECU adjusts your air to fuel ratio, this makes the PCV unneccessary. You CAN run the auto tune which will actively trim your fuel maps, but it is dead weight in my opinion.

3.) If you have the cable for the kit ecu, you can change anything (much more than you can adjust with the PCV) which includes fuel maps, ignition maps, secondary throttle body maps, rev limiter, etc.

4.) You do not need a PCV if you have a kit ecu. The kit ecu makes the PCV look like a joke. Some people run the PCV on top of the kit ecu, simply because they don't understand how to tune the kit ecu, so they rather adjust the PCV instead (because its easier and more well documented how to tune the PCV).

5.) I believe most japanese factory ecu software are written for windows only.

    6.) I have no idea.

7.) I am not sure about this either, try giving attack a call at 714-373-1111

8.) It doesn't matter what kind of exhaust or intake you have, your tuner should be able to put the bike on the dyno and hook up and wideband to see how rich/lean you are and correct accordingly. You won't make as much power with a gutted stock header vs full system. I've gutted a stock header and removed the cat, however the pipe expands way too much in that area to account for the cat, which equates to poor exhaust velocity when gutted). The stock headers were designed with the catalytic converter in mind, the only way to make it better is to reweld a smaller diameter straight pipe where the cat used to be, this might net you 1-2 hp. All in all, its much better to get a full system. I just bought a carbon yosh TRC full system for my 09 on ebay for $620.00 shipped.

Thanks again man, i remember you from Kawiforums as well, you were the only one with answers there too, lol. Thanks again for the help I think calling Attack is the best idea.(don't know how I didn't think of it before, I've called them already for some suspension questions)

That's a great deal on the full system, I plan on getting one eventually I'm just working on a budget now and this was my best option till I can find the full system I want. That being said how do you like the full system vs the gutted cat, I assume it produces a nicer dyno curve and more power?
