Got a friend looking to replace the motor on his Harley due to excessive run out on the cam and thought someone here may know where you could buy one as I have no experience with Harleys at all. Its a 88CI twin cam. He's looking for a 2002-06. Any help is appreciated.

    A or B series?

What model Harley, soft tails are different than Dynas and touring models.

If crank has run out, send it to Darkhorse for rework.

Dyna the bike has 124,000 miles. He rides a lot. Apparently it need other stuff too which is why a replacement motor may just be easier.

Have a reputable place rebuild the original motor. You can always try to find a salvage motor, but you won't know the history.

Harley sells replacement motors. I know you can also buy replacement engines through Dennis Kirk. IIRC those were S&S motors.

    Steeltoe What's my move?

Nah that's pretty normal for anyone who actually rides more than on sunny weekends. Not normal to be having engine problems with those miles though.

    I would suggest an Indian.

My buddy has the big one, Roadmaster I think, and with intake, exhaust and stage one cams, it will spin the tire in 2nd then pull the wheel about 2”.

It’s a massive bike too but it runs great, handles well and stops pretty damn good too. Better than my Harley for sure.

That's a lot of parades to have 124k miles on it.
