Anyone experienced surging issues with the Predator generators? I have a 4550 that was running flawlessly, only thing I did was an oil change, and now its surging constantly at idle. The last time I used it was roughly 6 weeks ago or so, so hasnt been sitting too long. Ive cleaned the carb as best I can, cant really get to the main jet, but flushed what I could with carb cleaner. Still doing it, though seems to be not quite as bad. Only thing I can think of is do a much deeper clean of the carb, but want to see if there's anything else Im missing.

The one at deer camp did this, I believe there was a sensor off the carbeurator that we had to swap or a voltage regulator

also is a screen in the exhaust that we pulled and i think a charcoal canister on the fuel system somewhere also was removed

    Carb.
Does it surge the same when you have the ESC Throttle button on too?

Recheck the oil level first. If that's good, try unplugging the oil level sensor to see if that fixes the problem.

Yes, both, doesnt surge any if very minor on the choke.

Yeah, probably some trash still in the carb.

Well pulled the carb off and ran it through the ultrasonic cleaner, rinsed with carb cleaner, air dried, ran through again, and seems to be working decently. Fingers crossed.

Install a fuel shutoff valve in the gas line.
Allows you to run it “dry” before you store it.

Does it surge with or without a load on it?

Pilot clogged...(indicated by adding choke, clearing the idle) must be cleaned with a Fine Wire, followed by spray or air.

I use an E guitar string to clean pilot jets.

Just to be clear, a high E string, .009 or smaller.

Welding tip cleaner tool works too.

For those who don't have tip cleaners or guitars...a single wire from a small stainless wire brush works just fine...:)

I use the combined tact and decorum of this forum, sure I have to really waggle it around to hit the sides of a pilot jet...
