does $40 plus shipping sound reasonable for a used fzr400 seat?

    For a street bike? sure

On a racer? no (get some foam, vylne, & duct tape, or just use a SB tail)

    SuperBike tail.

I use a SBK YZF750 tail on my FZR400RR with a little "mousepad" foam. Many people have gone with '93 - '95 TZ250 tails on the U.S. FZR400's

Yes... but it looks much cooler, and we all know that adds at least 3hp!

Depends on who has sat in it. Britney Spears or Anna Kornicova's FZR seat might fetch a pretty penny!

If the seat is in very good condition (no holes in the cover or cracks in the base)$40.00 seems like a fair price to me. A new replacement cover from the dealer retails at about $75.00 by itself. I paid $40.00 to have a local upolstery shop recover mine (looks brand new, but so dose everything else on the bike). Used parts in very good condition for the FZR 400 are not as easy to find as they used to be.

I'd also like to add that I like the stock seat because of the riding position it provides and believe me if you race on a mouse pad at Nelsons you'll be sore the following week [IMG]

Makes sense to me - we allowed the SB tail in SS races and Lee had a really pretty one - he then promptly chopped the crap out of it in the pits at Indy cuz he likes the stock seat better....
