Hi Joe, I'm a "400 guy" and live in Duluth too!! For gearing Jennings for me is 16/44 with 520 and 17" wheel..If you have 520 chain/sprockets try about 15/44 with the stock rear wheel..or up two teeth in back with 428 gearing(stock size).. For Barber-not real sure but its alot shorter than you think it should be..I'll probably start with 15/44 when I go back there---only ridden SV there. Hope that helps some.

Here's a question I haven't seen answered. Is stock gearing on the 400 is 15/45 (or is that for the FZR600) with a 428 chain and 110/140 tires. How is this affected by going to a 520 chain and sprockets and running Bridgestone slicks (120/595-17 & 155/635-18)? I'm currently running 15/43 and want to make a change to the rear sprocket, but I'm not sure what to try.

After a little more research, it appears that to match the stock gearing with a 520 setup would require 15/43. I'm going to try a 15/45 or 15/46 setup.

Stock 428 gearing is 19/55 on the 400...Can't answer your ??'s on the other as I run a 17" rear with a "short" 160. Sounds like your in the ballpark though.
