This amazing bike is owned by a BMW motorrad dealer principle. It was primarily used as a track day bike and raced in a couple Canadian superbike races for fun. The bike was always maintained by a BMW master technician. Roughly 7000 km or 4400 miles.

Bike is located in Ottawa Canada

Do you know how hard it would be get it into the US if it was only used for a track bike?

It has an ownership. No stock bodywork. To import the bike for the street you need a recall compliance letter, the stock exhaust back on the bike because it is stamped showing that it meets noise and emissions restrictions and you pay a 2.4% importation duty. If it is being imported as a race bike only I don't believe you need any of that other than the 2.4% import duty. You would have to pay sales tax in Canada but can apply for it back when the vehicle leaves Canada

I could be wrong but I thought for off road use only with no intent to register all you needed was a bill of sale for proof of ownership?

You could be right, I am unsure of the process as we have only ever dealt with licensed vehicles.

The information above may only pertain to cars as I found it on a race car forum.

I would encourage whoever is interested in the bike to check with boarder services as all the paperwork will have to be done by them anyway.

I brought a race bike over the border into USA last month. All I had was a bill of sale, but it was not enough. They wanted MSO or equivalent. I was lucky in that they were able to telephone the guy I bought the bike from and after 30 minutes on the phone with him, decided to believe him and let me cross into the US with the bike. Had the seller not been available, I would not have been able to bring over the bike.
