So title National Origin = speech patterns of a individual.... Saying that they need to speak a particular language means you are discriminating against national origin.

I'm with you on this one. The company was stoopid in how they went about this. If the people were working, and doing the job, it's hard to then claim English is a requirement after the fact. The unfortunate thing is that there is now precedent that will open up a whole can of shit.

Maybe the company hired them thinking they could work around the language barrier and have now determined that it is too much of a safety risk or cost issue. If you think it can't be a cost issue, it would be pretty expensive to print and/or translate all of the warning signs, equipment manuals, procedures, forms, etc. in multiple languages.

i think you'd be well surprised about the actual make up of that industry in that regard. also, my tribe makes up a lot of hollywood... we aren't WASPs homes. they weren't chosen for a reason.
