Didn’t see this coming so soon. No fossil fuels by 2027… I don’t get it and I’m not sure how attainable this will be. https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2021/11/24/motogp-racing-towards-the-fuel-of-the-future/403155
Look up research done by Porsche, among others, on synthetic fuels. They probably won't ever make enough of it for the average guy to put in his Camry at a reasonable price, but for limited use like MotoGP or F1, it might be possible. And that might be the key to continuing racing on internal combustion engines without angering too many people.
Kinda cool actually. The challenge will be to have the fuel in time to develop the engines. Some companies will be more successful than others if the burn characteristic is wildly different than fossil.
it's attainable right now. there are plenty of non-fossil derived ICE fuels. it's the death of exactly nothing. the fun is seeing where the manufacturers take it with 5 years to develop their own. as for ethanol, there are any number of non-food derived biomass sources, including cellulose as mentioned by Nigel.
To be known as Moto GE... I'm not interested now because the names I knew and followed are gone after this year. Do what you want. I am no longer the audience.
Not really but all the names I knew when I sort of payed attention are gone. I barely watched racing when I was racing.
Switch to methanol but dont give me this saving the world shit. OWN it by saying "making our bikes MORE HARDCORE with 20% more POWER!!!" "The World of Outlaws has nothing on MotoGP" I can dream right? To me its like the HOA harpy bitch got her claws into Dorna.
yes, historically. and the common name "wood alcohol" refers to methanol, even though it's not made from wood anymore. though now, cellulose from wood, grass, whatever... can be converted to ethanol.
