They just don't. They don't know any lyrics, can't 'air drum' Tom Sawyer, and can't pull off any air guitar/bass licks. It's like when Rush comes on, they turn stupid.

Thread title correction: Nobody digs Rush ... unless you’re “special”, and likely not even then.

 

When you go to the music store do you just look at the guy behind the counter and ask him for “all the garbage that hasn’t sold and no cares about so I can be a metal hipster”?

 

Do you all ever look past the mythical lyrics and Geddy's voice and listen to the simple musicianship involved?
It's fucking incredible. And this comes from someone that hated them for years. Then I "saw the light".

Yes. I saw the light. They’re all tremendous musicians. Geddys voice is irritating to no end. But Lord can they play!!!!

They just play the absolute worst catalogue of music in history.

It’s like the perfect storm of rock and roll shit. Like taking the finest range raised angus beef aged to perfection and grilling it until it’s almost creamated. Tragic really.

The only chicks that dig Rush are dudes with long hair. Even the jean jacket hags from the 80s would rather hear 99 Luft Ballons on a continuous loop than listen to Rush...lol

 

I wouldnt call them "mythical" lyrics unless you use that term as the book "Law is a Myth" does (great book BTW)

mystical, for sure though and philosophical. that voice is a bit high but man what a show they put on. I remember Neals whole kit raising above the stage and then inverting completely and he played a 10 minute solo while upside down!

there was chics there but definitely a minority at that one.
