So my wife and I decide to try to get a Honda Civic and unload one of the guzzlers. Then, today I decide that maybe after 5 hears of SVs I'd like to ride something with a little more "wang" to it when I twist the throttle. So I go on the local Craig's List and find these on two entirely seperate listings on two different days and get the following email responses back:

2007 Honda Civic LX - Mileage: 19,419 miles

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my car. I sell it at this price ($ 6800) [emphasis added by me] because i just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce has finished i own this car. Now as a single woman i don't need it. This car is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title, 3 months transferable warranty.
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services.
We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20.000. The final price that I want for this car is $ 6800 USD including shipping and handling.
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer(if you are interested to buy) very soon.

And then today, I decide that after five years of SVs maybe it's time to ride something with a little more "wang" to it, so I'm on Craig's List locally again and I find this:

    Hello,

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my bike. I sell at this price($3500) because i just finished the divorce with my husband. After the divorce has finished I own this bike. Now as a woman i don't need it and I need money for other things. This bike is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title. From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services. As I know that my current situation is pretty special I want the deal closed only through eBay's Buyer Protection Program in order for me and you to be 100% protected. The final price that I want for this bike is $3500. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping. Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. Probably 70% of the ads I reply to on craigslist I get that exact same response

Heck, what are the odds that these two items, a) don't really exist and b) the posters are not even located anywhere near where the ads say they are. In other words, it's a total fraud and just another form of the Liberian scam.

Odds are high it's a scam. Craig's List works great if you can go and check out the actual vehicles, otherwise, avoid like the plague.

Craigslist in my area has some descent chicks offering erotic services... Thats probably why I keep missing race rounds, I keep giving these nice young girls going to college all my money. But they leave and I'm Happy ;-)

I responded to a couple vehicle ads on the local craigslist that just seemed too good to be true...then they want to ship, and they don't have a phone, and you can't come look at it...blah blah blah

Flag the shit out of them! :moon:

Scam... there was one a few months ago for a 69' Charger 383 car with 42k original miles for 2800.00.
