I'd like to bring the BMW over just to spark some fan interest in racing. I'l have to do some careful planning to get the trailer in and out of the paddock without losing my spot. I'll bring the brolly girls too.
Cool!! Yeah those of you who will be bringing trailers over please make sure you secure your spot in the paddock before leaving a space open. Hoping most people will be there and settled in by then but you never know. I will be making announcements about the Bike Night at the track as well so I will remind everyone to "not leave the door open" so to speak. If some of you who know each other are going to the bike night perhaps you could load up in one trailer and bring your bikes together.
Might be wise to make the Braselton Police and Jackson County Sheriff aware - just to be on the safe side. If it gets too crowded they can park rigs or trailers at PMI (about a mile away) after they drop off their bikes. I'll make sure my night shift foremen know they have permission.
Racers are welcome to park behind my shop as well. Half a mile away (East), behind NE GA Motorsports Kawasaki on 53.
How about calling up the popo and requesting an escort to and from the event for race bikes? The sheriffs usually have a couple of Harley popos and they are usually gear heads too. I've had good luck in the Gump getting some escort help, even with cars as escorts...sometimes for free. As a WERA event, they may be willing as it's not a buncha streeters and no one here is gonna roach his bike before the GNF. Otherwise, just get 3 or 4 guys to bring bikes as a display so no parking probs, theft etc. Super idea for the group though and the general public and bike nuts. I'd go if I was there. BTW, I still have about 40 pix of the scarecrows...people I show them too can't believe it..some have even drivin over just to see them. Pretty cool, but there are some creeper ones too!
Believe it or not from Road A to where Jeff is talking about you pass through 2 counties, 2 cities, and 3 police jurisdictions as well as a busy intersection over I-85. Coordinating all that would be no mean trick.
Wow! I know where it is, but had no clue about all dat. Oh well, mebbe State Troopers can cross lines? Or just forget it...
bucha no headlight race bikes after dark, even with police escort, likely would not fly. If I get there in time though, I will take my bike in my truck bed over there. It is pretty enough still, lucky enough.
+1 What he ^ said!!! Yeah I saw the digital billboard for the GNF a couple of weeks ago. It was really cool!!
Yeah I don't think there will be any police involved with this. Let's hope not in a bad way anyway. There is a Braselton Motor Cop but he normally works day shift and I am not sure if he even knows about the Bike Night. It would not surprise me if he showed up with his bike. I did go by the place today to check on the parking availability. Talked to the manager and told him about the interest we are getting from all of you. I have to say I appreciate all of the interest so far. I told the manager that we would likely have trailers coming in with race bikes and he said that the grass lot was good for parking (watch out for fire hydrants and signs, etc) and as I said before I think parking along Towne Center Parkway should be fine too. It's one of those three lane wide roads so plenty of space. If that isn't enough or doesn't work then we have the other options offered up by Jim and Rick. Thank You guys! I did ask the manager if he was going to have any police involved with this and he said no it wasn't planned and he didn't think there would be a need for that. I can tell you that this area of town is now mostly patrolled by Jackson County SO since the Hoschton Police Dept closed a while back. But I think we will be OK too. Just nobody do anything stupid OK? Come out, have fun, be safe!! Again, thanks for the support!
