Since the beeb knows everything, figure I'll try... Any plant people here can help ID what this plant is? My doggo definitely grazes on walks. Besides normal grass, he seems to seek out baby common grass weeds, but specifically seeks out this one in the picture in particular. Even to the point of being selective on which leaves he takes from a cluster of them (maybe newer ones taste better or seem fresher? no idea). Anyways, his poops are always totally regular, he's never sick with puking or diarrhea, nothing is wrong here... just curious to see what it is and/or read why maybe he likes it so much. Thanks
LOL damn. you guys are the best! I knew it! haha Apparently its good for digestion and an anti-inflammatory and helps prevent kidney stones. And then I found these other articles where other people are talking about how their dogs love it. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4273260/weed-id-like-goldenrod-but-never-flowers-my-dog-loves-it https://www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/25v1zh/my_dog_specifically_eats_this_plant_when_he_finds/ https://ask.metafilter.com/282821/What-is-this-plant-my-dog-loves Thanks again. Maybe your dog is seeking nutrients that are lacking in his diet. Or maybe he just wants to eat weeds that smell like poo to him.
D. All of the above? Haha naw. I mean, I don't think he's lacking anything. He eats Wellness Small Breed and our vet approves and outside of that maybe some tiny pieces of whatever meat I might be having and/or the random fruit and veggie. He's been a grass eater ever since we adopted him. He's a freakin wild animal... doesn't mind rain, loves snow, loves the woods, loves going to this farm kinda near us and getting dirty. Tries to jump up in the air and eat butterflies and moths all the time... has been trying to eat all the cicadas even though we don't let him do that. I dunno man. He def likes poo though. Rolled into a giant pile of horse shit like a month ago at the farm and it was ALL over him and he looked so proud. Fuckin asshole. Outside of that though... I dunno man, if eating occasional grass and plants keeps him regular, who am I to complain.
Yep, he's a poop beast. Mine wants to eat it, roll in it and bring it in the house. I haven't tried it myself, but maybe it is as delicious as they make it seem.
For future inquires and if the beeb is not available, sending the pic to your local County Extension Agent should result in an accurate answer.
This. I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate it when one of my customers installs that turf crap all over their yard. Especially when the installer uses crushed granite underlayment. Congratulations : you just removed all the fiber that was keeping your dog regular, and put in billions of crystalline nucleation sites for urea crystals to grow on. Welcome to your diarrhea stained, subway station reeking backyard.
I was trying to think if I've seen those yellow flowers or not, and I can't picture it now, and I dunno if its because I never noticed, or because this asshole eats them all before they can grow big enough haha. I'll pay attention more this time around, its in a common area to the little house circle. The one thing I DID learn this year, is that 2/3rds of the flowers/plants in my front tiny garden area thing and walkway are poisonous to dogs. Luckily he has never looked twice at them. Maybe the smell is off-putting or its just in his genes or something, but I had a WTF moment for a second there when I was doing some reading back in March. fuckin walkway full of Azaleas and Rhododendrons and Lilies... whatever. We had some nice purple things last year for 4 of them, but rabbits ate all the leaves and they didn't come back this Spring. All this stuff said deer and rabbit resistant, so that's what I went with and they look cool.
