Aaah, the squeaking wheels of justice as they grind down a muddy road can easily be pushed into the ditch. So many things can go wrong, and often do. :(

Maybe someone will punt his happy ass off the road.

Fucking worthless judge. 50 hours for more or less possibly killing someone.

Don't blame the judge. Read the article. The prosecutors fucked up and gave him this deal so they could get some kind of conviction. It sucks that he won't be in the pokey, but this is how it goes sometimes. Maybe he'll be dealt with by street justice one day, we can only hope.

Judge could had handed out jail time if she wanted. Much like in Madison, WI. A motorcyclist was killed by someone who decided a red light didnt apply to them then killed someone only to get a similar slap on the wrist. But yet kill a pedestrian who WALKED OUT INTO TRAFFIC without looking the driver gets 1 year+ in jail.

I read the articles. If they have that "list" of officers who had lied before on the stand, then WHY THE FUCK are they still on the payroll?

The judge could have, but she accepted the plea deal. Judges usually accept the terms of plea deals, that's how it works. The prosecutors fucked up and couldn't get the guy on anything more serious.

The list isn't a list of guys who lied on the stand. It's a list of officers considered potentially unreliable for testimony. The officer who was supposed to testify in this case has been fired.

Negligent homicide should get you a good few years in prison, I totally agree. What can we do when the system fails, though? Street justice is the only other option, but then you'll probably go to prison longer than the asshole!

Better that the kid can stay out of jail and work. Now the victim can sue him for support and rehabilitation, and the conviction makes it a pretty solid case.

Can't squeeze blood from a rock. Dude probably doesn't have any money to take. He could get a large judgement, but eventually the guy will just declare bankruptcy and discharge it.

Reminds me of Bill Janklow... 100days for killing a motorcyclist. After 30 days in jail, he was able to leave every day to perform "Community Service"... Plus he was able to avoid any financial liability because he was on "Official Government Business"
