anyone else find it interesting that Pescarolo is fielding a Peugeot diesel? hopefully Aston's switch to the premier class will prove to be a competitive one...

 

I thought they've been racing that car for a couple of years. What happened to the hybrid electric?

 

Peugeot has been racing it...against Henri Pescarolo's team/cars. I guess Henri decided 'if you can't beat them, join them'

 

I haven't followed it as closely the past few years - I was really into it back when they ran Gruppe C cars like the Mercedes Silver Arrows etc.

Pescarolo has been saying for a while now that the diesel cars cannot be beaten under current rules.

 

and he's right. just wondering why he's bothering to enter his Judd-powered petrol car

 

I would imagine he needs to enter two cars to make it worthwhile.

 

The Judd finished 2nd a few years ago IIRC. I think it's faster than the smoker, but handles a bit like a Mack truck, at least that's what they were saying back then.

Back to the subject - Aston is in because it's 50 years ago that Shelby and Salvadori won it in the DBR1/300 - not as pretty as a D-Type, but effective enough. They should paint it the same colour, that lovely light BRG. I'm glad Ford's money is at work in a worthwhile cause
