I remember when people were amazed that they broke 200mph, then 204, and now the Ducati hits 220mph with many of the bikes very close to it. Do you think regs are coming soon to slow them down a little. Sweet baby jesus is that fast.
They already tried that when they went to 800cc. Unless they put some extreme restrictions on them, they will always go faster.
They need to follow NASCAR's lead and add restrictor plates at some tracks. Maybe bikes of tomorrow also? NASCAR knows what's best for racing.
MotoGP is trying to grow big time right now, more races per season etc. Drastically changing the rules wouldn't help that. Straight line speeds aren't the dangerous part anyway, keeping the corner speeds lower overall makes things safer. People rarely fall off straight up and down.
Of course, slowing down for the corner and your entry speed is where the danger lies. Vast majority of crashes are slowing down and/or entering the corner.
double pffffttt. My 92 FZR600 (the pinnacle of 2 wheel performance) would do like 180mph in 2nd and then wheelie when I grabbed 3rd. These fancy "Mo-TOE - Gee - Pee" bikes aint shit.
.....or you have a brake issue. *edit* Pirro's crash still sends a shiver down my spine every time I see it.....
Mugello seems to have a pretty good handle on those types of high speed crashes coming into Turn1 Think Marquez that same year and Nakano before that
The pinnacle of motorcycle racing is.... LwT!!! All hail the SV650, the race bike of the past, present, and future!
