PRICE: $4,500 with a fresh prep.
    MILEAGE: 16.3k
    LOCATION: Orange county California USA
Can arrange delivery to outlying areas.

Trying to buy a home so need to pad the bank account a little more so one of the bikes needs to go. Unfortunately the Ape pulled the short straw. Bought this bike out of Texas off of here a number of year back, then went through the entire bike and made numerus upgrades along the way. Had a lot of fun weekends on it between a few long distance road trips, trackdays and canyon days. Bike is a solid performer and is setup as a camillion trackday/street bike. Plug-n-play LED light bar comes off as does the entire rear tail for track days or run it with the 2003 tail with carbon fiber pillion and KC HiLites LED's for the street. Nothing on this bike was hacked together, it is all done top shelf.

Thank you, this bike was a huge passion in build and execution for me. It got too nice to be driven hard on the track so I built a track dedicated SV and retired the Ape for street/canyon duty.

To bump to top: most hardware has been upgraded to titanium or aluminum.

Looking for some feedback: Price too much? Should I freshen up the paint to solid black? Just break it and part it out?

I've had a 2000R that has been a race/track bike since 2005 so know quite a bit about the bikes. Mechanically they are very solid bikes and are a lot of fun on the track. However, no matter how well they are cared for they still do not fetch a lot of money in resale. Stinks, but simply a fact. Don't know if you have it listed on the AF1 forum (recommended), but even people who geek out on the bikes still won't pay.
Drop to 4k and you might get some interest. $3500 would probably get it sold. If I wasn't on the other coast I would consider as a B/parts bike.

Nothing like selling an Aprilia... it takes a very, very specific buyer who has to be actively looking for it and is in your area. The everyday rider just doesn't seem to give them a second look. It being Italian scares some people off as well. But parts are plentiful and the bikes across all generations are truly unique rides with character. The quote from the guys at AF1 is "Aprilia... the best bikes no one knows about."

My gen 2 listed is a factory edition and 2 grand cheaper than any other in my area. I've had 2-3 inquiries.

Thank you for the knowledgeable and constructive feedback. The Apes are definitely a bit of a nitch market, especially the older ones. Outside of their electronics I feel like the bikes and Rotax motors are nearly bomb proof. Electronics wise I completly rewired this bike on the bench with modern day connectors. Same stuff we use in the Baja Trophy Trucks I help prep.

The bike could be negotiated down to $4-3.5k it might loose some widgets to get there. Below that it becomes undesirable to get rid of though. Ideally I want to cash out of it to help with closing cost to purchase a house, then later I'll build another street bike up (748, RC51, Monster, TLR, etc or go gokart racing).

I have a dedicated track bike now so the Ape is my weekend backroad bike. The reality is, living in socal, it's not that desirable to rip up and down the canyons anymore. The risk is just so high vs spending time perfecting skills on a track. I'm just afraid if I only have a track bike I'll really miss not having the street option.

In any case as I work through my bike issues online this Mille is setup really nice and ready for a new owner. I could get the bike as far east as Wisconsin late August.
