07/08 GSXR-1000 Cable Clutch Conversion

I have just completed the switch to cable clutch on my 1000. For those saying you only need the two shift rods, front sprocket cover and clutch perch to complete the mod are wrong. :tut:

I have complied a list of parts required. Now some of the parts may come on items you purchase on eBay. For example: I found a front sprocket cover with the following items.

You will also need to relocate the fuse box and replace the radiator overflow bottle. Here is the bottle I used.

I drilled two holes in the top to run the hoses into the bottle.

 

Wow... You went all out!!!

I traded parts with a local 05-06 GSXR 1000 rider.

We had to get a new 6 mm stainless steel rod, and we play with lengths until we both work it out. The 07-08 GSXR 1000 hydraulic clutch push rod, was 2-3 mm too short for the 05-06 GSXR 1000 with the hydraulic clutch set up. The 05-06 GSXR 1000 cable clutch push rod was 2-3 mm too long for the 07-08 GSXR 1000 with the cable clutch set up.

I did purchased a new clutch cable.

For the Radiator over flow bottle, I just bent the mounting bracket less than 1/4 inch to allow room for the cable. For the Fuse Box I oval out the mounting holes to move it out of the way.

took my racebikes to KWS to have this done. Way easier.

 

I didn't buy all the parts I listed, I scrounged around and found most of them. I was just making it clear to others that might want to change to cable that you need a few more parts than what others may say.

 

If memory serves correct, shortening the outer pushrod to 101.5 mm is all that needs to be done "internally".
