The Rossi throwback black and yellow bike from Laguna, the Red Bull WCM yzr500, the Roberts Jr RGV500, the Kawi 800 motogp bike, the Cagiva 500, Rainey’s Marlboro 500. Most of all Hayden’s 06 championship bike. All make my pants tight.
Let's put this into perspective. Here is Lorenzo's 2013 M1: Not the best looking bike ever, but I would still call it a beautiful ride. His fastest lap on that bike at Phillip Island in 2013 was 1:27.89 Here is Jorge Martin's 2023 GP23: His fastest lap on that bike at Phillip Island in 2023 was 1:27.25 I don't know what the conditions were for both races, 10 years apart, but is .3 seconds worth the Fuglification of the sport, and arguably less exciting racing?
And it's Jorge Lorenzo. The guy who single handedly dethroned Valentino on the same bike, thus tarnishing every perceived accomplishment he was ever gifted prior to JL99's arrival.
i'd say it was more the death of his buddy and first real injury with real impact to health/performance... but sure. the guy who doesn't handle pressure well and only runs away with it if he can get out front early is the reason. the Lorenzos and Vinales of the world aren't dethroning anyone.
he's had some foibles haha. but my man has also had more amazing pick-aparts and runs thru the field than any of those other dudes. we're not really calling Rossi a weak contender now are we? come now my fellow... come now...
Typical deflection. Where was that said, or even implied? I just pointed out that performing when the pressure was really on wasn't his best quality by a long shot. His Game 7 poise put Owensboro on the international map. Lorenzo was also a beneficiary. And that shit was Game 6.
i feel like he's had more final 2 turn pass-wins than are countable on both hands, but maybe i'm just misremembering.
ok ok... that one where he kinda just fell over at like 20mph in a 1st gear turn and threw away the championship... i'll give you that one. just that one.
Was it this? Steve Rapp riding an RC-30 race bike at Laguna (from Iconic). This one is based on an actual RC-30, which is the descendant of Joey's "pure factory race bike" RVF in the other pic. Of course, RC-30's were heavily based on that bike.
