Didn't we get a picture of an unnaturally, shivers inducing, twisted wrist of Dovi about 2 years ago from a MX mishap? EDIT: Something like this.... (Apologies for size(!)
I believe it was Valentino who finally decided any dirt training would be with both wheels on the ground back before he retired. I really don't get how clearing table tops is beneficial to the skillset of stuffing corners but I don't understand a lot of things.
I "think" its more about bike control, getting use to bike squirming around, stamina. In the olden days if my bike swapped out, slid out..I was Fudge this!! And went backwards. After a few yrs of harescrambles, those track ooopsies didnt scare me as much.I think dirt riding helps tremendously, unless you have limbs pointing different directions all willy nilly like above..
It’s not as much as honing their skills as it is working out and “being on a bike”. Yes it absolutely helps. Yes I get scared to death when Dalt goes MX training.
That wrist pic reminds me of taking a first date snowboarding and her first run down the bunny slope ended up with a wrist like that. Dropped her off at the bar and did a couple runs. Was our last date....
I've seen much worse at the track. Wrists can't take much of a beating and when instinct tells you to use your arms to break a fall the results can be bad.
