Wayyyyy overblown. Granted while sad it isn't surprising that people are freaking over what it essentially a ramped up search algorithm. I find it funny people got all excited with google and it's bots and programming but now the same basic jump in programming has the name AI incorrectly attached they flip out like the world is ending.
Granted, what passes for AI today is of no real concern. However, artificial general intelligence is coming. That is a point of singularity beyond which we can not see. Misgivings are warranted.
