Were you required to provide a V.A.T. # and a EORI # to the seller/shipping company?
I suspect that this is information that the shipper, not the recipient, has to provide but I need confirmation. Thanks.

Why would someone in 'Merica need to provide a smelly Euro trash a VAT #? Why would we even pay VAT? Since parts coming here are leaving the land of perpetual strikes and mimes there shouldnt be any VAT applied.

When I buy stuff in Japan, I dont have to pay sales tax/VAT - even when i am physically there buying it. I just have to show my passport and then when I leave they scan it and bada bing...no tax.

But do you pay tax on it when you bring it into the US?

I buy bike parts out of Germany. Don't pay VAT or other taxes.

I buy a lot of stuff from Italy. No VAT, no import taxes.

The person shipping out the stuff got mixed up between the shipper's and the recipient information required.
