Lots of newer seiko and seiko 5 gmt dive watches released recently. I know they have some PVD black watches but not sure if any are gmt.
Also of he is military the AAFES is a seiko and Hamilton retailer with good prices and sales. Not sure about the navy exchange though. You can buy AAFES from online
They just released the SSK017, 019, and 021, which are all new Dial/Chapter-Ring configurations but not GMT. https://seikousa.com/search?q=gmt&Search= @JBraun - Not sure what branch your buddy is in, but the other one that came to mind was Marathon. https://www.marathonwatch.com/ They have USAF and USMC co-branded series. Also, there's a bunch of Dive/GMT/Pilot/Field watches at Gnomon Watches. https://www.gnomonwatches.com/
I love Seiko turtles, so I got excited for a second before I noticed the asymmetrical case. That's weird. Love the suggestions though! Some cool stuff in the sites you linked. I've never seen most of those. He's USAF, but nothing to do with aviation. Mostly gets jobbed out to SMUs from the other branches.
A nice military style watch would be the seiko Arnie reissue….its killed predators https://longislandwatch.com/seiko-s...YspbdsXuICtAsvG5uUNw02-tp8pVBg8gaAhNlEALw_wcB
I’d stay away from all of the pop up brands. In that price range my opinion is that the answer is always Hamilton.
Oh shot, my brothers has bought a bunch of them. He’s king of the inexpensive watches. He just got a Khaki and loves it. He’s considering a Oris this week. I told him to slow down and just get an Omega. Edit: I thought the like was for Long Island watch company for their Islander watches.

After close to 10 years, my SKX OEM Strap gave up the ghost and cracked in the middle on the buckle side. Decided to go with a NATO Strap that I had from a different watch (kickstarter came with 3x NATO). Black-Brown Leather NATO. Turned out ok.
Disagree. That watch is now junk. I will PM you my address and you can send it to me for proper disposal. Please dont continue to deface the Seiko name by wearing such a horrid abomination in public any further. `- Watch People
That looks really good. I always struggle with leather NATOs because it adds so much thickness. I wonder if soaking it in water would speed up the break-in. I've thought before about making a sort of mock NATO strap with loops for the spring bars and elastic nylon connnecting the two behind the watch, if that makes sense. You'd still have the functionality of a NATO but without the bulky material...
I have one of these on vintage Omega Seamaster. Its really thin and soft. Almost no break in. Also really $$$$ https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...ogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_campagne=surfaces
You can also do the old baseball glove oil break in on the NATO. Neet's Foot Oil works great. I did double check, but there's no branding on the strap, so I can't give you a reference there. Came with my Kingsbury Dark Water. (LINK)
Got this back today. My creation and parts, assembled by https://fourfortyfourpm.com/ Seiko GMT Movement Sapphire crystal Roulette Date Wheel (alternating red/black) Seiko Jubilee bracelet for now. Custom Dial (my birth year)
There's a lot of options on the chapter rings now. You can create just about whatever you want. I used the Red GMT hand, and the blue second hand just so my eyes would pick them up. I used the following places: Namoki DLW Watches Watch & Style for the custom Dial Crystal Times DIY Watch Club
